It is the economical, cultural and intellectual capital of Lower Silesia. It is famous for the many tributaries of the Odra, its canals, bridges and its cathedral. The location of Wrocław guarantees convenient air, road and train conections.

The official languages for this conference will be English.

Venue

by plane:
Direct flights to Wroclaw are available from many cities in Europe. For the details of arrivals see: http://www.airport.wroclaw.pl.
Taxi and buses are available next to the airport.

We advise to take bus No. 406 which operates every 20-30 minutes on weekdays and every 40 minutes on Sundays and disembark at the last stop by the station - the Wroclaw Główny Station (Central Railway Station).

by train:
Wroclaw has three main railway stations: Wroclaw Główny (Central Railway Station), Nadodrze and Mikolajów. We advise you to disembark at Wroclaw Główny Station. For the details see: http://www.pkp.pl.

The bus and tram stops are available near-by each station.

Wherever possible, we will provide assistance on arrival. Please inform LOC about your arrival day/time in order to arrange to lift you to the hotel.

Please look around for a man holding STIX-SphinX banner. This will be a taxi driver or PhD student, who will drive you to the hotel. You will not have to pay him directly, but you should pay for this travel to the organizers at some point when you will have Polish currency “Zloty” exchanged (The drive from the airport will cost approx. ~$25). Those foreigners, who arrive by train, please STAY AT THE PLATFORM and look for the approaching man with the banner.

If you do not see a man for a while, please take regular taxi-you will need zlotys. Money Exchange kiosks (24/7) are present at the airport and at the main hall of the Central Railway Station.

Travel to Potsdam by Van

As there are 7 people going there, one 8 people Van appears to small for a comfortable trip lasting ~4-5 hours, especially if luggage included. Therefore, we decided to rent two 6 people vans (www.ricardotaxi.pl/uslugi/ see the photos). Having the two gives also extra “redundancy”. The vans will be waiting on September 2, starting from 11:45, at the REZYDENT Hotel parking and will drive you to the RHESSI Meeting place in Potsdam. All people going to Potsdam are booked at this Hotel. Total price for renting both vans is ~$900.
