Emission Measure Distribution from Plasma Modeling

Fabio Reale

abstract: I report on the temperature distribution of the plasma emission measure (DEM) as derived from modeling coronal plasma. I compare the DEM expected from non-confined flaring plasma with that from plasma confined in flaring loops. I discuss the DEM obtained from modeling a stellar flare observed on Proxima Centauri with XMM-Newton. I also discuss the DEM expected from modeling loops heated by nanoflares located at the footpoints as compared to the DEM derived from observations of the coronae of active stars.
