SphinX: the ideas behind the Project

The rationale of SphinX will be given together with a short description of considerations which led us up towards the present construction of the instrument. Important new concepts being introduced, concern as well as the principle of the measurements, method of taking the measurements and the physical problems which are to be addressed.
